So why do we have Black History Month? unfortunately this is a question that is still asked today, and as time passes and memories fade people tend to forget why it even exists and, in their minds, why should it after all in their minds black people do not need to be reminded of their history because their history is our history but that's not how it works out. When I was in school, we only had books that showed people that looked nothing like me. They were doctors, scientists, scholars artists etc. so imagine being a kid and seeing no one that looked like you accomplish anything now take how I felt and magnify that by thousands and watch what it does to you, it makes you feel like you can never be anything more than what they allow you to be, but we have risen above a lot of those things and have accomplished a lot of things and the more knowledge you seek the more you will find but now they want to continue to question why we should have it and that it makes white people feel some kind of guilt and we can't have that now can we? Black History is their history as well because it is world history and can be celebrated by all people, because what has been accomplished in this world belongs to all people and we have the right to celebrate or not celebrate but to say that it shouldn't exist at all is another reminder that we still have a lot of work to do in the human race until we are one we will never be as great as we could be welcome to Black History Month.
