Black History Month

Every year in February, we celebrate Black History Month, black history is so vast that it cannot be confined to just one month there is so much there, both good and bad that it is impossible to wrap it up in one month I know that personally, I learn something that I didn't know seems like every day and that's what makes me feel better about myself and the world that we live in all of the struggles that black people have been through both here and abroad we still find a way to smile we still find a way to persevere there is nothing that we can't accomplish if we want to I can see it now more clearly than I ever have in the past only because I was ignorant to what has been achieved it's hard to see the struggle if you never been through it you can't see it and as I have said before the further our generations get away from the struggles the harder it is to see to struggles I used to believe that we had no value in this world only because that is what I was shown or taught "Oh you are just a nigger" you have no value your life has no meaning until I started reading more getting more knowledge of where black people fit in in this world the way that we take nothing and make something out of it these are the things that today I understand and it continues to drive and motivate me why not be the best at whatever it is that you are doing why can't we be? this is what my understanding is some of us have not made it to this point yet we believe that our lives have no value because this is what we are taught so as we begin another black history month I think of all the things and all of the people who have made it possible for me to be sitting here writing this and I smile
