MLK 2022

Sitting here thinking about where I live and the quality of life that I'm allowed to live I have to think of the many people who made this possible no I am not wealthy by any means as a matter of fact far from it and that's okay because the richness of being able to live life and provide for my family is good enough for me which brings me to MLK this is a day of remembrance and service and everyone has their own way of doing this myself I reflect on what was already given to me and pay it back the best way that I know how and that is to honor my oath to protect my family and helps those in need these are the things that I believe are very important but as you know the world is ever evolving and changing and in this year 2022 as we continue to deal with a global pandemic there are people who are trying to push the world back in time where certain people were not allowed to vote of course this all started when the new number for the home of the sick number 45 made allegations that the presidential election was stolen and that he is still president this set off a series of events that this country will have to live with for a very long time and one of them is the attack on voting rights because the election was lost there are people who either don't believe the election was above board or they simply didn't agree that the people who voted in the election who didn't vote how they liked them to should not be allowed to vote at all sound familiar well it should because until 1964 this was the law of the land as the right to have a vote and be part of a democracy that we live in was denied on the believe that certain are not intelligent enough to understand how it all works these are the very things that Dr. King and many others stood for and fought against and here in 2022 the John Lewis Voting Acts Law is being debated it's so unbelievable that it is believable because this is happening as many states still use loopholes that deny citizens the right to vote based on having and address or being able to stand in line for hours without being offered any water or a snack or anything to sustain them as they wait in long lines to cast their ballots and all of this is done to discourage people from being allowed to vote this is where we are at now this is not how it should be but as we move forward think of MLK day as a day that we remember what was done in the past and think about our future if we do nothingĀ
