Another year of celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and the many other civil rights leaders who made so many sacrifices. for us to be able to live in the world that we live in today and while we have made many strides since then we still have not reached the ultimate goal and that is to live in peace, and we continue to fall short of that goal as hatred, laziness. and the overall inability to care for others as you do yourself. continues to be our downfall everyone has a plan on how we should proceed and yet we can never agree sometimes I often wonder what if Dr. King and others would have said you know I have my education I can teach at college or start my own business or do something other than fight for civil rights where would we be, and the fight is not as hard as it was for them than it is for us, we are not being vigilant, in this fight we have to continue to go through these battles because the alternative is to do nothing and reverse any gains that have been made today it is more easier than it's ever been but as I have said in the past the further we get away from the struggle the more likely we are to continue to think that it doesn't matter there are plenty of people who are waiting for us to completely abandon the idea of equal rights trust me it's happening right now stripping our basic human rights are the way of once again make us less than which we have been for most of our lives the struggle is not as hard as it was but our mentality is different because a lot of us can feel the struggle because we are a couple generations removed from seeing it videos and pictures kind of give you an idea but until you actually go through it you will never know how those people felt while they were going through it but if we continue down this current path about only caring about what we have and how we can get more the next generation may feel what the past generations have felt if you don't believe it can happen again study your history books people vigilance is the key to making progress and not regress to what it once was.
